Meanjin/Bris Public Organising Meeting

Come to a public meeting about the huge protest planned for Land Forces 21: #DisruptLandForces

Land Forces 21 is a global arms expo on at Brisbane Convention Centre 1-3 June.
The protest will involve many different types of action, to include people of all abilities and backgrounds. Weapons companies are #MakingAKilling selling arms to military and police forces in order to terrorize us and people just like us. The Australian government subsidizes this killing trade with $270 billions of our money. These billions could fund the renewable energy transition, with billions still to spare.

Indigenous communities on the front lines of extractivism and militarism are the hardest hit by weapons exports. Colonial violence continues to dispossess first peoples in Australia, West Papua, Mindanao, Ecuador, Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya … while the arms dealers at Land Forces reap billions in profits.

#DisruptLandForces is a campaign coalition including anti-militarist, feminist, first nations, refugee, climate action and other community groups. Bring your people, bring your ideas, and together let’s bring peace and justice to Meanjin.

1st May 2020 from 2pm

Venue Jagera Hall, 121 Cordelia St, South Brisbane

Thank you for signing the petition

Thank you for signing petition for defence export controls

These corporations will be making deals at Land Forces weapons ‘expo’ in Brisbane in June.

We hope you will join to disrupt the deals.

Watch our videos of actions, at sponsors Rheinmetall, EOS, and Nioa to find out more about what’s going on in a massively expanding military.

#DisruptLandForces

from May 28.

In the last few weeks we have visited those weapons corporations in Brisbane. Each are selling to Indonesia or intending to.
Rheinmetall, EOS and Nioa are all #MakingAKilling.

Indonesian soldiers with police have killed about 25 people in West Papua in the last 6 months: People we have names and dates for.

We request the Federal Government adhere to the arms control treaties and cease licencing weapons for exports to countries which commit human rights violations. Including the US the most significant of human rights abusers.

Actions

Weapons company actions

EOS-Aus

EM Solutions is wholly owned by EOS-Aus. EOS-Aus sells precision targeting systems to ‘increase the lethality’ of guns mounted on top of armoured vehicles such as Rheinmetall’s Boxer.
The troops can stay cosy in their vehicles while shooting targets kilometres away – this distance from the actual act of killing makes the people seem barely human.

Rheinmetall

Rheinmetall’s armoured vehicles – Boxers are sold to human rights abusers such as Indonesia for use against
West Papuans, including peaceful protestors, villagers, women and children, mainly to protect the interests of mining companies.
